Making racing games feel good on a touchscreen
Realistic racing sims mostly fail on phones, and it's not the fault of the horsepower. It's that precise steering needs precise inputs, and a thumb smearing across glass isn't precise.
The games that work lean into arcade handling. Dust Circuit builds its whole appeal around a single drift mechanic: commit to a corner, bank some boost, and fire down the straight. Simple to grasp, hard to master.
Short tracks help enormously. When a lap takes ninety seconds, replaying for a better time feels fun instead of like a chore, and racing your own ghost adds a little competitive itch.
If a racing game asks me to feather a brake with a touch control, I'm out. Give me one clean mechanic to learn and let me get good at it. That's the sweet spot on mobile.
